A tale of three guys reaching the top of Finland in 28 hours after leaving Tampere in the South. Warning: this story contains foolhardy decisions, loads of luck, too many miles on the road in way too little time and of course a bare minimum of sleep. You get to decide if this represents the Finnish “sisu” (rough translation would be extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity) or something completely different?
Premise
It all started (as great adventures often do) with boredom. I had just finished my military service and had a month of no plans before heading back to university. I passed the time with a move and killing time with friends. Then, one night during an intense FIFA session, my friend Jasper happened to suggest a new game he had stumbled upon: the Wikipedia Travel Challenge! The concept is as follows:
